UVA Still Leads in the Commonwealth Challenge

Even though UVA's major sports teams (i.e. football and basketball) are performing pathetically right now, and I have no real hope for this year's basketball team or any team in the near future, somehow UVA is leading the Commonwealth Challenge 6-3. Thank God we have good swimming, soccer, lacrosse, etc. teams.

I still do not get what VT was thinking when they agreed to this (other than perhaps money earned through advertising?). Outside of football, UVa has dominated VT in sports for years.

And do not be too down on the basketball team. They looked real good against Liberty. I know that they are a weak team, but UVa was running more than I have ever seen in an individual game. They were rebounding better, passing better, and outright playing better. Their shooting was not perfect (rebounds can make up for that though), they did look a little tired by the end of the game (not used to all that running I suppose, but that will change), and it is only one game. But I believe this team, even in only that one game, has given us reason to be optimistic. This may not be the year for UVa hoops, but I honestly believe that next year might lead us back to the NCAA tournament.

Thanks for your encouraging comments, CR UVA. I guess I'm sort of upset at Leitao for some how allowing Gary Forbes to slip away...I loved watching that kid when he was playing well...he could fly, and he was playing so well at the end of last year. This year would have been his breakout year.

CR, I too do not understand the logic of joining that challenge.
