fourth GOP Congressman in VA endorses Bolling

Today, the Bolling campaign announced the endorsement of their campaign by new Congresswoman Thelma Drake. She is the fourth of the eight Republican Congressman in Virginia to commit to the Bolling campaign. Former Congressman Tom Bliley also has endorsed Bolling.
Check it all out here. Last night, the Bolling campaign got a warm reception in Prince William County in the enemy's camp. Interesting.

We hear there is another endorsement on the way.

I was at the Prince William County GOP meeting that you reference. There were a number of statewide candidate reps (not just Bolling) there and they all got a polite reception. Connaughton himself was there early on and got a very friendly round of applause (as you would expect) I didn't notice anything particularly "warm" about the Bolling response that would distinguish it from any others. We're in petition drive season now and the correct GOP response is to be supportive of helping all candidates get their names on the ballot in order to ensure a healthy primary contest.

I've noticed a Bolling tactic since Connaughton started showing signs of derailing the LtGov coronation parade is to imply that Connaughton is not well received on his home ground. Check the Republican 2003 primary results and you'll see how goofy this is. Also check the relative strength in Northern Virginia of the major LtGov candidates. Davis, May and Connaughton are all from Northern Virginia, but despite strong competition in the region, Connaughton is leading the pack by a significant margin.

This is a post which is either singularly ignorant of the facts, or simply dishonest.

The cowardly "anonymous" claims that it is "a Bolling tactic ... to imply that Connaughton is not well received on his home ground," citing "the Republican 2003 primary results" as evidence of "how goofy this is." Yeah, right. That would be the 2003 primary where Chairman Sean's opponent was a Democrat backed by the Democrat Sheriff." As for "the relative strength in Northern Virginia of the major LtGov candidates," and the fact that "Connaughton is leading the pack by a significant margin," a number of other factors are more important, not the least of which is: (1) his constituency is considerably larger than May's; (2) he has the backing of the Tom Davis machine; and (3) Gil Davis is not an elected official, and his biggest fame to claim was his participation in what the so-called mainstream media characterizes as the plot to get the Great Prevaricator.

Only time will tell how "well-received" Chairman Sean is on his "home ground." Too bad for him that County tax bills went out so close to the primary.
