Four More Years, Thank Goodness
"We go forward with complete confidence in the eventual triumph of freedom. Not because history runs on the wheels of inevitability; it is human choices that move events. Not because we consider ourselves a chosen nation; God moves and chooses as He wills. We have confidence because freedom is the permanent hope of mankind, the hunger in dark places, the longing of the soul. When our Founders declared a new order of the ages; when soldiers died wave upon wave for union based in liberty; when citizens marched in peaceful outrage under the banner "Freedom Now" - they were acting on an ancient hope that is meant to be fulfilled. History has an ebb and flow of justice, but history also has a visible direction, set by liberty and the Author of Liberty."

Did anyone hear the President quote the Koran during his speech yesterday? This is just what we need, four more years of this coward pandering to non Christians, being afraid to stand up for his faith, making us more susceptible to illegal aliens (I have noticed that among illegal aliens, Mr. Bush seems to especially have an affinity for those who hail from Mexico), and strengthening the stereotype that conservatives a bunch of Southern unintellectual hicks.

Unfortunately, Bush cannot placate all sides on this issue. Had he delivered his speech with all its references to God and without acknowledging other faiths like Judaism and Islam, he certainly would have been pilloried (as he often is) as a "Fundamentalist," "Bible-thumper," or worse. His comments were tempered in this fashion to neutralize criticism that he lacks "tolerance" for other belief sets. This is the world we live in....

I posted above as "anonymous" 'cause I couldn't figure out how to leave comments otherwise.....
I'm happy to have this blog...really, it's much needed...but, have you guys intentionally omitted "Northern" Virginia from the artwork on the homepage? ;-)

I like the layout...a lot. Keep up the good work, but try and bring us "up-staters" into "the picture." Thanks!
