Pleased to See SCOTUS Uphold Solomon Amendment
It was encouraging to see the unanimous decision of the Court announced on Monday to uphold the Solomon Amendment. I'm excited to see the Roberts court already making solid decisions. As a JAG officer myself who was recruited on the campus of UVA Law School, I think this is an important decision and a slap in the face to all those Ivy League liberals up in New England. Top of the morning to you all!

That doesn’t mean that the basis of the objection isn’t valid. Don’t ask, don’t tell (while revolutionary at the time) is just plain discrimination in today's modern environment.

Nova Dem: Open Homosexual behavior makes one unfit for military service. Ask the Joint Chiefs. That isn't discrimination it's good military order.

Integrating the military wasn’t good for military order and morale but it was still the right thing to do.

Military officers didn't argue that being Black made one unfit for military service, since Blacks had been soldiers in the American Army since 1775.
The issue is the unsuitability of the behavior, and what it does to unit cohesion, not the inherited features of race.
The attempt to link sexual behavior to race for political gain works for Liberals who are easily confused about many things.

Before Hernandez v. Texas and Ciscnero v. Corpus Chrisri, the law considered the troubles of Hispanics to be not at all linked to the troubles of blacks, just as you try to say the troubles of blacks and gays (in terms of discrimination) are not connected.
BTW: Gays have been members of the American Army since 1775 as well :-)

NoVa Dem: Homosexuals haven't served openly since 1775. Thus, don't ask, don't tell. Unlike race, behavior is only obvious when it happens.

The Fundamental behind being a homosexual is not the action of homosexual sex, it is the genetic coding that makes someone attracted to their own sex.
As my father wrote in 1993 (which right now is the official policy of the US Military): Homosexuality was once medically defined as an aberrant sexual behavior. However, years of medical, psychologic and sexual research consistently failed to demonstrate the presence of any specific . . . clinical syndrome and/or psychosocial profile in practicing homosexuals or either sex.

Actually, regardless of what dear old dad wrote, it's the behavior that counts poorly and wrongly. Homosexuality was redefined by the APA in 1973 - as part of the same political agenda.
Pretend you can find a homosexual gene. (First, it would have eliminated the behavior through micro-evolution - each generation fails to adequately reproduce the gene - unless, of course, it is a naturally occuring mutation that happens 1/1000 or so from normal genes) It doesn't matter why the person is homosexual. If they act homosexual and desire men as sex partners it is very disruptive to maintain the forced intimacy of military units.

Not all gay men are sexually promiscuous; those who are however, just like heterosexuals who are promiscuous (Air Force Academy comes to mind) should be thrown out. However there are many (including my aunt who served in Vietnam and a close friend who won a silver star in Korea) who fit well into the military culture.
BTW: Cystic Fibrosis is genetically transferred; however it is still prevalent today even though until the 70's people didn’t live past 6 months. Homosexuality could just be a recessive gene:-)

What does incest, bestiality, and homosexual adultery have to do with anything? Homosexuality, just like Homosexuality is most like genetic, and both are quite normal (unless you think people with blue eyes are more normal than people with brown eyes, or that a person with brown skin is more or less normal that one with white skin, then you would have many problems).
