Hockey's Back!

The NHL returns to the ice tonight after missing the entire 2004-2005 season due to labor disputes. The big question tonight will be, "Does anyone care?"

Canadians will certainly be happy to see their national sport resume play, as will many Americans in places like Philadelphia, Detroit and Minnesota. The rest of the United States, however, is a big question mark. Though hockey has always been the #4 pro sport here in the U.S., it remains to be seen just how much support will have eroded in non-traditional markets like Nashville, Atlanta, and Miami.

It's enough for me just to be able to see that Winged Wheel flying again. Will the core fanbase be enough for the league to survive as is, or will more changes be coming?

God, I've missed hockey! The rule changes suck, but I'll live with 'em. Go Flyers!

James Young: go ice yourself.

It's been too long to hear those magical words "Let's go Red Wings!"

Stevie Y deserves one last good season -- too bad for him it wasn't last year. Will he have the legs?
